A Golden Arrow bus was petrol bombed this morning and left standing alight on the R300 Northbound. According to City of Cape Town spokesperson Richard Coleman, one female passenger was injured in the incident. The severity of her injuries have not yet been revealed.

This follows two separate incidents of buses going up in flames that both occurred last month on April 25 – a MyCiti bus spontaneously caught alight, while a Golden Arrow bus was petrol bombed.

The MyCiti bus caught fire on Nelson Mandela Boulevard near Hospital Bend as a result of an engine malfunction. As a result, traffic was diverted onto Main Road, causing massive delays.

Two fire engines, a rescue vehicle and 12 firefighters responded to the call.
