In a move to increase tourism to the city during the offseason, Cape Town is set to host a number of new, exciting festivals.

Some of the annual festivals planned include the Cape Town Golf Festival, a multi-course sporting festival which will take place in August. Bed & breakfast accommodation forms part of the package for guests, at The Commodore Hotel, along with transport to the participating courses of Royal Cape, Clovelly, Milnerton and Durbanville. Free wine-tasting and golf memorabilia will also be included.

The idea is to grow the Cape Town Golf Festival to a similar size and following as that of the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon and Cape Town Cycle Tour over time.

“We do not expect results immediately as good things take time, but we are confident that Cape Town will be turned into a place where people can holiday the entire year,” said Reg Ferreira, tournament organizer for the Federated Hospitality Association of South Africa.

Another new festival being planned to help boost tourism to the Cape during the winter months is the Halal Tourism Festival, which will be aimed at educating and drawing in more tourists from global Muslim market. More details about this festival will be revealed as they become available.

The introduction of these new festivals have been spearheaded by the Federated Hospitality Association of South Africa (FEDHASA) Cape, Cape Town Tourism, Wesgro and Accelerate Cape Town.
