The government has reportedly been advised to go on a stricter lockdown level, as a precaution measure for the Easter weekend.

According to eNCA, the chairperson of the Ministerial Advisory Committee on COVID-19, Professor Barry School, said gatherings and festivities during the period could result in increased COVID-19 numbers.

Scientists and government officials have long warned of a third wave of coronavirus infections.

A News24 report said on Wednesday that the Coronavirus Command Council had advised the country to move to Level 2.
