“But for now we relive the moments.”
Recently, Rocking the Daisies recently announced that the 2021 edition of Daisies will, unfortunately, be cancelled.
For many, Daisies is more than just a festival. It’s an institution of being and of freedom.
A different universe filled with joy, the grooviest of spectacular fits, glitter dreams, togetherness, and of course the power of music.
However, it’s the togetherness part that so many have always craved and still do, that is precisely the reason for the cancellation. As much as we would like to imagine Daisies to be some sort of world that exists outside of reality (and yes, in many ways it is exactly that) when it comes to the pandemic it is unfortunately trapped inside our devastating reality.
In a statement, the Daisies team wrote:
Dear Daisies Family,
Today is once again a sad day for not only the Daisies team, but also for all of our incredible supporters, stakeholders, crew and industry, as we announce that this year’s Rocking the Daisies is not able to take place as we take on the second forced fallow year for both our Cape Town and Johannesburg shows.”
From the time we announced the 15th Year Anniversary postponement last year, up until this very point, our team has worked tirelessly behind the scenes alongside all the relevant officials, and stakeholders, in order to do everything in our power to make this year’s event viable. However, with the latest announcement of increased, stricter regulations, as well as the ongoing uncertainty of the months to come in South Africa, it has become clear that an event of our size in 2021 is not an option, and most importantly is not safe for our most important stakeholders – you, our loyal fans and supporters.”
The team went on to express that all existing ticket holders would receive “official email communication regarding the options for refunds and rollovers.” They encourage the rolling over of tickets for 2022, and expressed gratitude for all the support of the Daisies family.
There is an extensive FAQ which can be found on the Daisies website here.
Additionally, you can reach out to the team on [email protected], or slide into their DMs.
They encouraged people to keep supporting the music and entertainment industry where and how we can, and wrote:
“Until 2022- stay safe, keep supporting our incredible industry where you can and remember that we will be together again, bigger and better than ever.”
