A desperate search is underway for any leads that could help police find Marceline Spandiel, an 11-year-old girl from Ravensmead, who went missing on July 10.
Spandiel was last seen in the company of her twin brother at the Belhar train station, and is believed to have boarded the train without him.
The Delft Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Violence unit (FCS) has been searching for little Spandiel, to no avail, since she was reported missing.
“Delft FCS seek the assistance of the community in locating the whereabouts of a missing child, Marceline Spandiel, 11 years old,” police spokesperson Noloyiso Rwexana said.
According to reports, the girl asked her brother to get on the train with her and when he refused she left without him.
On the day of her disappearance she was wearing a blue long sleeve shirt with a grey tracksuit pants.
According to community pastor and friend of the family, Adam Alexander, Spandiel and her brother were living at a children’s home in Stellenbosch before moving in with their grandmother who lives in Ravensmead. Spandiel had ran away from the children’s home before but she had return shortly after leaving the home but this time was different as she has not returned for some time now.
Anyone who has seen Marceline Spandiel or has information that could help police find her are requested to contact the investigating officer Sergeant Dale Franks on 072 145 4163.
