As part of the Department of Home Affairs’ new projects aimed at making it easier for residents to get the important documents they need, a number of mobile truck offices will be rolled out this year.
These new offices will not only make it easier for people in rural areas to apply for needed documents but also for students in schools.
Each day the trucks will be able to help roughly 290 learners and ensure pupils will spend less time obtaining Identity Documents and other necessary documents.
Other new additions to the department’s plans include the possibility of opening some of the offices on Saturday, this will most likely take place on specific dates and times.
Often children are forced to leave school during the day to stand in line and apply for their IDs but these new allocations as well as future plans to run a dedicated programme will help ensure students can more easily obtain their IDs without having to sacrifice precious school time.
Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi says that an announcement on the programme would be made at a later date once the Department of Home Affairs and the Department of Education had considered all the resources that would be needed.
