Chaos erupted in Hout Bay at midday on Sunday when protestors allegedly set fire to a fisheries building at the harbour and burned one house to the ground.
There were rumours that a poacher was shot dead by an official on Saturday, which angered the fishing community. Police are yet to confirm this.
Sirens rang out shortly before lunch time, and plumes of smoke filled the air. Protestors blocked off Princess Road with burning tyres and police fired rubber bullets at the crowd in an attempt to disperse them. Roads into Hout Bay have been blocked off and entry is limited.
This is a developing story.
