The award-winning actor that holds a special place in many hearts for his portrayal of Bilbo Baggins in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Ian Holm has died after his struggle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Holm was also well-known for his stellar performance in Alien, The Fifth Element and Chariots of Fire among others. In his successful career, Holm won a BAFTA and was nominated for an Oscar for his role in Chariots of Fire.
I stand corrected he played Napoleon three times in Napoleon In Love, Time Bandits and The Emperor’s New Clothes. (Thanks @MilesWattsFilm) https://t.co/5JKLZ4Kdw3

His agent confirmed his passing to The Guardian saying: “It is with great sadness that the actor Sir Ian Holm CBE passed away this morning at the age of 88. He died peacefully in hospital, with his family and carer. Charming, kind and ferociously talented, we will miss him hugely.”
He is survived by fourth wife Sophie de Stempel and his five children.
Tributes are pouring in for the amazing actor and it is a sad day to have lost such talent and charm indeed. RIP Sir Ian Holm.

As a kid I would watch any movie that had Ian Holm in it because there was no way he wasn’t going to be in a good movie, and even if he was, he made it a hundred times better. #RIPIanHolm Thank you for your work. pic.twitter.com/vCzHGV8ekd
