According to a statement by Official Miss SA, South Africa is currently the top pageant country in the world.
The last and longest-reigning Miss Universe is SA’s Zozibini Tunzi, who many are hoping will crown current Miss Universe contender Natasha Joubert as her predecessor to the universal throne.
The double magic win, which entails the same country winning the Miss Universe pageant consecutively has only happened once before for Venezuela.
So why does the double win matter for South Africa? For one, it showcases that South African women are holding their own in international spheres. It allows us to celebrate in the pride that not only will the magic double be from the Global South and Africa, but South Africa. As a form of cultural and beauty diplomacy, it is a leading representation that navigates us forward, especially for the African continent in representation.
With that being said, the stars may be aligned for our South African lioness. Social Media polls are reportedly bowing down to her highness, favouring her in support as per News 24.
The 69th Miss Universe Pageant is scheduled to take place in Florida, at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino this Sunday, May 16.
To vote and secure South Africa’s leading position, simply download the Miss Universe Official App, cast your vote and make history.
Natasha is already in the states as per leaving South Africa on May 3, and she has been keeping us up to date on her journey.
