Despite being asked to hand himself over and serve 15 months in jail by the Constitutional Court, Jacob Zuma is said to be in “high spirits” following the monumental ruling.

According to News24, Dudu Zuma-Sambudla, one of his daughters, has taken to social media to share a few pictures of a laughing Zuma with the caption: “Reunited With @PresJGZuma And He Is Still In High Spirits.”

After numerous attempts to get Zuma to appear before the Zondo Commission of Inquiry into State Capture to give evidence, the Concourt found him in contempt of court and handed down their ruling.

While Zuma’s lawyers are still preparing their response, many have shared their opinion on the ruling, including his Foundation, who has described the judgment as “judicially emotional and angry and not consistent,” reports IOL

“Suffice to say that the same Constitution that obliges our patron to obey the supreme law of the land like every other citizen also affords him the same protections that it affords every other citizen.

“Secondly, our patron has never believed that he is above the law or the Constitution, the supreme law of the land. On the contrary, he has always insisted that he must be treated like every other citizen, and his rights to equal protection of the laws must be respected and protected,” a statement by the foundation read.

Zuma has until Sunday to hand himself over at a police station either in Nkandla in Northern KwaZulu-Natal or Johannesburg.
