A learner licence applicant has been arrested for attempting to bribe an examiner at the Milnerton Driving License Testing centre on Wednesday, April 14.
According to IOL, the 33-year-old man allegedly offered an assessor R1 500 to change his results, after he failed the test.
Mayco member for Safety and Security, JP Smith said the man was arrested and detained at Milnerton SAPS.
“The City of Cape Town does not tolerate attempts to circumvent the law, as is evident from the examiner’s reaction to the bribe,” Smith said.
As reported by SABC, the suspect now faces the prospect of a criminal record if convicted. Meanwhile, Smith has also appealed to the public to refrain from engaging in this type of behaviour.
