The City of Cape Town has confirmed that proposals are in place to implement level 4 water restrictions by June 1st.
So what exactly does a level 4 restriction entail?
As stated by Xanthea Limberg, Mayco member for informal settlements, waste and water services, it means that the external use of water will be completely banned, the service of potable and drinking water in this regard will be greatly reduced by the City’s intervention.
Dams are at 12.8%. Residents, reduce use immediately to below 100 litres per day per person. https://t.co/lmhYmDT7oH #ThinkWaterCT pic.twitter.com/Sng4kiXxX9

In terms of water usage, it is not yet clear as to what will be classified as ‘external’ but communication will be provided by the City over the next few weeks for clarity sake. At the time of writing, dam levels have dropped to 12.3% with a modest amount of 5mm rain predicted for Thursday.
We could do with a miracle.
