A traffic official from the Makhuduthamaga Municipality in Limpopo has come under fire after a video of him assaulting a civilian went viral.
In the video, the traffic official can be seen slapping the man in the face twice before flipping him over and restraining him. The incident is reported to have taken place in a town called Jane Furse, between the Bapedi petrol station and the Jane Furse crossing complex.
As reported by News24, the municipality issued a statement condemning the official’s actions.

“We wish to apologise to the public. The incident portrays a bad image and brings our municipality into disrepute. It is not like our municipality to behave like that,” it said. “In our more than 20 years of existence as a local government, this is the first incident of this nature which not only belittles us, but also destroys our culture as a municipality.”
