Locals will be glad to know there is a ‘low probability’ of load shedding taking place on Friday, February 15 throughout the country, however it may be implemented at short notice.
In an official announcement, Eskom said that load shedding may not be needed today “due to further improvement in generation performance and the notable strides made in replenishing water and diesel reserves”.
However Eskom warned that if power cuts do become unavoidable during the day, residents will have little warning before they occur.
“The power system however remains tight and vulnerable and while Eskom is making every effort to limit load shedding, it could be implemented at short notice should there be a shift in plant performance. This could include a significant loss in generating plant due to unplanned technical breakdowns.”

The power utility said heavy rains at its plant could also impact the generation of electricity.
“Although Eskom has rain-readiness plans in place to manage the risk of wet coal, the recent heavy rains could also impact coal handling and feeding to the boilers with a potential impact on generation production.”
Residents and businesses are encouraged to use electricity sparingly during this period.
“Please switch of geysers as well as all non-essential lighting and electricity appliances to assist in reducing demand.”
We are currently NOT loadshedding. Please contact your service provider if experiencing a power outage as this may be related to a planned / unplanned outage or a fault. Eskom customers can report #poweroutages on MyEskom Customer App available at https://t.co/Z6RO8tAzrB
