Locals young and old came together over the weekend to make sure their railway line in Harfield, Cape Town was the cleanest one in the country.
In just a few hours in the morning of cleaning up as a team, the busy railway line was transformed from a littered commuter route to a shining example of neat, clean public area.
“A huge thank you to the good people of Harfield… who transformed the railway this morning. Well done everyone, what a fantastic community effort,” said a community member on Faceb0ok.
The team worked happily together, removing a bakkie full of black bags and making new friends while they were at it.
The positive experience not only helped younger community members understand the importance of keeping our public areas clean, but also showed them the effort it takes to clean up after those who litter.
This latest cleanup is one of many that Capetonians have been carrying out themselves recently, making the Mother City a cleaner place while bringing residents together.
Locals are also on a mission to clean up the Black River and the results have been amazing.
