A sea turtle, who was in severe need of help, was rescued by the National Sea Rescue Institute’s (NSRI) Gordon’s Bay duty crew on Wednesday, August 5.
“On arrival on the scene a sea turtle, identified as a Hawksbill sea turtle, was secured into a towel and taken off the beach in the care of NSRI,” the Institute said in a statement. “Arrangements were made with Two Oceans Aquarium to collect the turtle in Strand.”
The rescue took place at approximately 8:17am, and the turtle is now being treated for hypothermia and malnutrition by vets from the Two Oceans Aquarium.
“NSRI commend the swift response to assist the turtle.”
