After Cyril Ramaphosa’s election in Parliament a short while ago, we all asked the question, who is South Africa’s new First Lady.
She is Tshepo Motsepe, sister of well-known business tycoon, Patrice Motsepe. Motsepe is a medical doctor and the current chairperson of the African Self Help Trust (ASHA Trust), focusing on Early Childhood Development and Education.
Cyril and Tshepo have four children together.
According to Wikipedia: Over the years, she has worked in both private practice in (Mmakau Village and Pretoria CBD). She worked in hospitals in South Africa (Bophela Hospital, Mahikeng and Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, Soweto and Zimbabwe (Mutare, Chinoyi, Harare and Parirenyatwa Hospitals). She’s a former Deputy Director of The Reproductive Health Research Institute.
Her services outside of medical practice include: Non-executive director – Wits Health Consortium and Wits Hospice Patron – South African Civil Society for Women’s, Adolescents and Children’s Health (SACSoWACH) Served as Chairperson of Gauteng Health Department’s Accreditation Committee Patron – Students Sponsorship Program (SSP) Former board member Vaal Reefs Disaster Trust Former board member Kids Haven Foundation Former Membership – National Medical and Dental Association. She is guided by the belief that “economic and social development is a pre-requisite for communities to lead socially and economically productive lives’” as stated in the Alma Ata Declaration of 1978.
