Metrorail’s services were suspended on Monday, due to cable theft and vandalism. Train services are remaining suspended on Cape Town’s central line today, Tuesday.

The service’s rail operator said it simply couldn’t run a service on the line because of safety concerns.

The company has made alternative arrangements on Tuesday.

“Our weekly and monthly ticket holders may use Golden Arrow buses off peak. We will not be selling singles or returns to give people cash to make alternative arrangements,” explained Metrorail’s Riana Scott.

She added that technicians are working flat out to get trains moving again on the central line.
