Metrorail has announced that trains at Cape Town station have been suspended until further notice due to equipment failure on Wednesday.

In a tweet, Metrorail said a shuttle has been provided for the route between Fish Hoek and Salt River.

“Telecommunication problem at Cape Town impacts Region. Train shuttle service between Fish Hoek and Salt River has been introduced. Commuters are advised to make use of own alternative transport between Salt River/Cape Town in both directions,” said Metrorail.

Technicians are busy working on the problem.

News24 quoted Metrorail spokesperson Zico Mihli as saying: “We are experiencing failure at Cape Town station affecting all trains. This necessitates the temporary suspension of trains in the region until further notice.”
