At least six people were reportedly killed in separate shootings in Mfuleni over the weekend, raising gun violence concerns in Cape Town.

According to EWN, the shootings started on Sunday when gunmen took out three men in Mfuleni.

“An hour later, another man was shot and killed in the area. That evening two more men were gunned down,” the report said.

Following the shootings, police were said to have prioritised investigations through a 72-hour activation plan.

A report by IOL quoted police spokesperson Andrè Traut as saying that suspects in both incidents were yet to be arrested.

“Detectives are probing the circumstances surrounding separate incidents which led to the death of multiple people in Mfuleni yesterday (on Monday). Our 72-hour Activation Plan has been implemented to apprehend those responsible.”
