The world is filled with brave little fighters that are always so eager to inspire those around them. One such fighter is Mackenzie Friedman, affectionately nicknamed Mighty Mack (for obvious reasons), who was diagnosed on May 12 with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, a type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow.
Mighty Mack’s story was first shared by Good Things Guy, tugging at the heartstrings of countless South Africans who took action and donated blood in honour of her incredible journey.
Unfortunately, her medical case has taken a bit of a detour as she found herself fighting an infection and ending up in the ICU. While Mighty Mack has fought off the infection like the champion she is, she still needs help kicking Leukaemia’s butt.
Mack’s family have asked for continued blood and platelet donations, as this little fighter cannot afford to lose any more blood. However, this life-giving force isn’t the only thing that Mack needs. A bone marrow match needs to be found as soon as possible, with Mack’s parents urging the public to get themselves tested.
“Please, please, please continue with your blood and platelet donations. And of course, don’t forget to register for bone marrow donation. Thank you all so much,” Bronson Friedman, Mack’s dad, stated.
If you’d like to get involved, you can get your bone marrow swab kit at the following drive.
