Step aside Baby Boomers (ie. Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates), there are new sheriffs in the billion-dollar club, and they’re called Millennials. Approximately 2 755 billionaires are living in the lap of luxury, with 78 of them belonging to the millennial generation, reports IOL

New data collected by PhysicalGold.com, which was analysed from the latest Forbes World’s Billionaires List,  indicates that the tech industry is teeming with millennial billionaires, with around 28 billionaires within the tech industry and a combined net worth of $254.5 billion (that’s 3.6 trillion rand). 

If that doesn’t blow your mind, then how about this – the world currently has 78 billionaires within the millennial generation, all with a combined total of $418.6 billion, as per Business Tech

Here’s a rundown of the top millennial billionaires in the world: 

  • Mark Zuckerberg: Facebook – $$97.0 billion 
  • Zhang Yiming: TikTok – $35.6 billion
  • Yang Huiyan: Country Garden Holdings – $29.6 billion 
  • Pavel Durov: Telegram – $17.2 billion 
  • Brian Chesky: Airbnb – $13.7 billion
