Our very own Western Cape-born Miss Universe 2017, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, had the questioned popped to her this week by fiancé Tim Tebow, the current minor leaguer of professional US baseball team the New York Mets, while visiting his family’s farm just outside Jacksonville.

The pair took to social media to share their special moment and announce the news yesterday. Their engagement comes roughly two years after they first started dating.

Tebow shared a sweet message along with pictures of the proposal on his Instagram, saying, “Thank you for saying YES and making me the happiest man in the world. You’re the love of my life, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.”

Nel-Peters, 23, reportedly spent her first Thanksgiving in America with Tebow’s family. Tebow, 31, secretly arranged to have her family and friends flown down to Florida to witness the sunset proposal, which included a specially-made bench with the date that the couple had first met engraved on it.

Tebow also enlisted South African singer Matthew Mole to serenade them with a surprise rendition of “The Wedding Song.”
