New hope has emerged in the case of missing Capetonian teacher, Mushfiq Daniel’s (28) after he was reportedly spotted by a shopowner in Ho Cho Minh City, Vietnam.
Daniels has been missing since July 5, 2019 when he was last seen walking to his flat in Vietnam. His mother, Faheema Adams, is not giving up the search and travelled all the way to Ho Chi Minh City to assist in the investigation.
Adams told Cape Times that her hope has been renewed as he was recently spotted just two weeks ago by a shop owner in the Ho Cho Minh City area.
The shop owner managed to recognise Daniels thanks to a digitally altered photograph showing what the missing teacher will look like with a long beard.
Adams is now actively involved in the investigation and is being supported by her other son and cousin as the search continues.
She is offering a 20 000 000 Vietnamese dong reward for any information that could lead to finding her son.
In frustration, Adams shared a post on Facebook regarding the search and negative comments that have been circulating speculating what has happened to her son.
“A truly sad day is when a life means nothing! All the speculation & hype is all about sensationalism. We are basically on our own, we have been for the past month. Please I am not giving up on my son. So please help in a positive way or keep all the negative comments to yourself,” she said in a Facebook post.
Daniels was reportedly seen riding a bicycle at a local bridge. The witness said his hair was longer and he was wearing casual clothing.
“This was like 10 days ago, we following & with the help of the consulate. I hope and pray we get more than 3 motorcycles for the search,” Adams said after the news on the latest spotting.
Rumours have circulated that Daniels may have fallen prey to an organ trafficking syndicate, a cult or even drugs. In August, these rumours pushed his mother to the edge, causing her to suffer from a heart attack in August. Despite her struggles, Adams is fighting to find her son with unwavering resolve.
Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts are encouraged to come forward and assist in the case.
