New information has emerged in the case of young Tazne van Wyk (8) who went missing on February 7 when she walked to a nearby shop alone.
The girl’s mother has now revealed her daughter was allegedly spotted in a taxi with the man who is believed to be her kidnapper on the day she went missing.
Police has identified the family’s 54-year-old neighbour as a person of interest in the case and Carmen van Wyk, the young girl’s mother, is worried sick.
Tazne is her eldest daughter and has now been missing for four days. It is believed that the neighbour may have abducted her while she was walking to the nearby tuck shop.
A search is currently underway for the man, named Pangkaeker Moyhdian and authorities are appealing to the public to come forward with any information that could bring young Tazne home.
Residents of Ravensmead, where Tazne lives, say Moyhdian was an alleged parolee who allegedly served 20 years for rape.
“They also found camera footage of this man walking with her. There are also people that can confirm that he was in the same taxi with them, with my daughter, but they didn’t know what was going on until they heard about it. They tell us that they were in the same taxi with them to Parow station,” Carmen told EWN.
Since Tazne’s disappearance, the province is rallying together to bring her home with the Minister of Community Safety, Albert Fritz calling on communities to actively play their part in the search for the missing girl from Ravensmead.
Minister Fritz will further mobilise local and surrounding Neighbourhood Watches (NHW) and Community Policing Forums (CPF) to assist in the search.
“Tazne was last seen wearing a red and white top and red shorts. She can further be identified by the scar on her left hand from a prior operation, a missing tooth in her upper jaw, brown eyes and black hair. She is roughly 20kgs and is 1.5m in height,” said Fritz.
Minister Fritz added, “Anyone with any information should immediately come forward and report such to SAPS Delft FCS Unit’s Sergeant D Franks 082 334 8772. Reports can also be made to Crime Stop on 08600 10111. Alternatively, the Pink Ladies can be contacted on 072 214 7439 or 083 378 4882.”
