The body of missing Cape Town psychologist, Diane Nelson (49), was found on Table Mountain on Thursday.
Speaking to News24, Western Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel André Traut said that no further information is available. “This office can confirm that the body of a 49-year-old female was discovered yesterday on Table Mountain. The circumstances surrounding her death are under investigation and a death inquest case docket has been registered,” he said.
Nelson was reported missing on Saturday, 23 June at approximately 8pm. Her abandoned car was found in the parking area of Cecilia Forest in Newlands, which is popular among hikers.
Nelson’s relative said the family would not yet provide comment, as they needed time. They are expected to issue a statement at a later stage.
It is alleged that Nelson’s handbag was found in her car, and her cellphone was missing. The phone is switched off.
