The search continues for missing Unicef director Charlotte Nana Yaa Nikoi who has not been seen since Human Rights Day on 21 March 2017. She was last seen walking on Table Mountain and it is unclear what has happened to her.
News24 reports there has been an extensive ground and aerial search with no sign of her. Yesterday, the Wilderness Search and Rescue reported that volunteers worked with Skymed aerial rescue services to scour Table Mountain to no avail.
‘We are 95% sure that she is not in the area we went to search for her,’ says Wilderness Search and Rescue spokesperson Johan Marais, ‘which means she came off the mountain and was either taken away or went away from that area.’
According to Independent Online, Charlotte – who originally hails from Ghana – her husband Chris and their daughter were supposed to visit Robben Island on the day she disappeared but as the tickets were sold out, they took a taxi to Platteklip Gorge for a walk instead. Charlotte told her family to go ahead as she would be slow but disappeared during the walk. It was meant to be the family’s last day in Cape Town.
At the time of her disappearance. Charlotte was wearing light blue shorts, a cream and dark brown cardigan, a sleeveless black top, brown sneakers, a big blue hat and oval-shaped glasses. Police have asked that anybody with information on her whereabouts contact Sergeant Isaacs on 021 461 8067 or 072 560 2624.
