A 31-year-old woman and her boyfriend were reportedly killed in a mob justice attack in Afram Street in Leiden, Delft on Wednesday.

According to Daily Voice, the two were accused of breaking into a shack in the new informal settlement, Covid.

Witnesses said the mob broke into the couple’s house and dragged them out to the streets. That was where they were brutally murdered.

The woman’s father, William Marcus, 52, was left devastated following the incident. He maintained that his daughter was not a thief.

“I know she didn’t steal anything. My daughter was not an angel, but she would never break into anyone’s home and she sure didn’t deserve to die like that.

“…Her face had wounds, she is almost unrecognisable, she had a deep open wound in her head, there were beer bottles used (in the attack) around their bodies,” Marcus was quoted as saying.

Police were investigating the murder and no arrests had been made so far.

This was not the first time that a couple was killed in Delft.

In 2018 a Blikkiesdorp couple was shot and killed inside their home.

EWN reported at the time that the community policing forum (CPF) remained concerned about the increase in crime in the community.
