More load shedding is in store for the Mother City today from 9am, and will continue throughout the day until 10pm tonight.
Eskom announced on Monday morning that Stage 2 load shedding will be in effect throughout the country from 9am today and will likely carry on until the late hours of the evening.
The national power utility stated that although a number of generating units have returned to service due to the recovery plan, a number of units continue to trip resulting in a shortage of generating capacity.
Stage 2 load shedding calls for 2000MW to be rationally shed nationwide in a given period. Load shedding will continue as a preventative measure to ensure the power system does not collapse or blackout.
The City asks residents to make use of its map and schedule for load shedding so they know when to expect a power outage.
