Just outside of Hout Bay, off Chapman’s Peak Drive and within the protected Table Mountain National Park, you will find Tintswalo Atlantic. Fires destroyed this prestigious property in March 2015, but the team has been working tirelessly to rebuild.
Construction moved at a rapid pace and the community and past guests helped to plant new trees to replace the old, including the lodge’s signature Milkwood trees.
Tintswalo Atlantic is well known for each of their suites having a unique theme and design, each inspired by the beauty of nature. It’s evident that the interior has been a top priority as the team has been very busy adding the finishing touches to the décor.
Because the eclectic interiors intrigued guests, the tradition is being upheld. Unique items have been sourced locally and abroad. A truly exceptional new front door makes for an impressive welcome. A large antique silver mirror is another feature that will attract attention. The statement headboard in the Robben Island suite fits in perfectly with the room’s theme. The Sicily suite features unique antique cupboards and bed that were imported from France. The Antigua and Lamu Island suites boast chandeliers with exquisite detail.
The only item that was saved from the fire was a silver table which has now become even more special.
Artists, Craig and Grant, from ForrestCreations, salvaged wood from the burnt Milkwood trees and used it to create individual pieces for the lodge such as platters, stools, side tables and the new bar counter.
This exclusive shoreline spot with a secluded and sheltered beachfront reopened on 1 November, even more special than before. Experience how Tintswalo Atlantic has turned tragedy into triumph.
