La Med, the legendary Clifton restaurant and nightclub, might be re-opening. Might. A large slice of municipal land smack-bang in the middle of what could possibly be South Africa’s most expensive real estate is in discussion to be sold for R100m – the proceeds of which would go straight to the City of Cape Town. The proposed plans for the area include a parking garage with 750 bays, around 2 750m of commercial space including an anchor retail tenant, boutique shops and the re-introduction of La Med. This all, of course, would first need to be approved by the ratepayers and residents of Clifton. Would they want their prime location commercialised further? Perhaps not. Read more here.

Eskom has confirmed this morning that Stage 1 load shedding is now in effect. Use the updated interactive map for more info about when your area will be affected.

Last, but not least, here is a tongue-in-cheek video of local comedic duo Derick Watts & The Sunday Blues at the J&B Met.
