As if we needed any more reason to celebrate our beautiful city, last night’s first annual Cheapflights Awards proved that Cape Town is one of the most sought-after destinations when it comes to travel.
With 11 categories spanning best airline, game reserve, hotel, tourist attraction and more, the Cheapflights Awards honoured the cream of the crop in South Africa’s hospitality and travel sector. Andrew Shelton, managing director of Cheapflights, says that South Africa is the fourth-largest market for the UK company, making these awards an integral part of the brand’s future forgings on the African continent.
Three nominees in each category were chosen by Travel Massive, a group of worldwide bloggers, with the final winners decided by a phenomenal 52 478 public votes.
So which Cape companies came out tops? Here’s your definitive list:
Best Airline Lounge Emirates, Cape Town
Best Attraction/Experience Table Mountain
Best Independent City/Boutique Hotel One & Only, Cape Town
Best Wine Farm Experience: Spier, Stellenbosch
