Capetonians are in for a treat this January when the formidable Queen Mary 2 (QM2) makes our Mother City the first stop on her world cruise.

After undergoing a £100 million remastering, the ship will sail into Table Bay for two nights on 26 January. The extensive work done to the vessel included restyling and maximising the space of its 172 Grills suites and restaurants, the King’s Court buffet area and the Carinthia Lounge.

If that doesn’t get you excited to see this beauty, which is able to carry a maximum of 3 090 passengers, picture this: the QM2 is equal to the height of a 23-storey building with 17 decks elevated 200 feet above the water. It’s also 345 metres in length – that’s a whopping four football fields!

What’s more? Cape {Town} Etc has a front-row seat to the ship’s exquisite beauty – so keep your eyes on our Twitter timeline on 27 January for sneak peeks from on deck!

She really is a massive ship.
Worth lots to the economy with a 2 day stopover. Cape Town is one of the very few ports globally that hosts this ship for 2 days.
