Atlantic Seaboard property owners who rented out homes and apartments over the 2016-17 holiday period are smiling all the way to the bank with tourists, especially those from the UK and Europe, willing to foot extravagant bills to rent prime real estate on the Atlantic Seaboard.
According to Charl and Adél Louw of the Chas Everitt International franchise in the region, two- to three-bedroom apartments in Bantry Bay and Clifton went for between R5 000 – R6 000 per day while eight-bedroom, multi-story villas with striking views were rented for up to R150 000 per day.
South African residents have also been contributing to Cape property owners’ high incomes. Although expensive overseas holidays weren’t on the cards for many families, holidaymakers still forked out significant amounts to vacation in the Cape from December to February.
And with the holiday period in the Western Cape being extended, head of Seeff SHORTSTAY Ruth Munitz foresees a substantial number of people renting exclusive homes right up to March – with rental pricing ranging from R5 000 to a whopping R20 000! With the Mother City being such an affordable option for both local and international travellers, many property owners are seeing repeat business from mostly local,s and UK and European travellers.
