The South African education system might just be on the right track, making steady but slow progress as 2018 matric results reflect an overall 78.2% national pass rate – 3.1% higher than last year. Among the country’s top 25 highest-achieving schools, nine are in the Western Cape.
Our province had a 81.5% matric pass rate for 2018, slightly above the national average, with 41 350 learners celebrating their pass results.
The Department of Education’s School Performance report for 2018 showed the 101 high schools in South Africa which have been the most consistently top-performing over the last five years.
Each of these schools have managed to attain a 100% matric pass rate in students writing the National Senior Certificate since 2014.
Bellville Highschool, Westerford Highschool, Bishops, Rondebosch Boys Highschool, Bloemhof Highschool, Rustenburg Girls School, Rhenish Girls High School, La Rochelle Girls High School, and Herschel Girls School all ranked among the country’s top 25 five-year 100% matric achievers schools.
