It no longer matters if the glass is half full or half empty: what matters is that the water is safe to drink.

You may have heard rumblings of it before, but it has now been confirmed – Cape Town’s drinking water is among the best in the world.

Several tests by water quality auditors who are serious about, well, water quality, were undertaken yesterday and the findings were positive for Cape Town’s drinking water supply.

Although it was declared by City of Cape Town official Ernest Sonnenberg that further work is being done to refine the city’s water network and treatment processes, we can now have peace of mind that there is a very little chance of anything nasty lurking in that glass of H20 you’ve just poured.

Personally I’ll still opt for a trip to the natural spring in Newlands.

I knew that a long time ago though. Travel anywhere in the world and you won’t find better water than right here in the Mother City! Back in the day of the diamond mines at Kolmanskop in Namibia, water was transported by boat weekly from Cape Town to the mining town to supply the citizens with water. That’s pretty impressive!

Oh for Petes sake, lighten up! People are entitled to make an observation you know. Anyway, everything in the Cape is the best by far. So put that in your pipe & smoke it. Run by the best party so that’s why.

It does taste good. I seldom drink bottled water but am drinking water from the tap out of a bottle all day.

I just did that last week in my First Year class on Adaptive Management and mentioned our good quality drinking water and we analysed reasons why it was the case.

It’s been the case for a century, but unfortunately not so any more for the rest of SA.
