The Global Entrepreneurship Summer School (GESS) is coming to Cape Town for the first time, and 35 South African university students will have the opportunity to attend.

Local partner company LifeCo UnLtd is inviting young South Africans to apply for a place at the summer school.

“GESS is a programme that develops young entrepreneurs, and challenges them to create innovative, high-impact businesses that solve society’s myriad challenges. Through GESS, we are striving to build a generation of champions who will challenge the status quo and go on to change the world,” says Pat Pillay, LifeCo’s chief executive officer. “This year, we are hosting the summer school in Cape Town, which is a huge privilege.”

The hosts are looking for 35 young South African students who are anxious to drive change, especially through entrepreneurship and business. They will join 105 other delegates from Germany, Mexico and China on a seven day programme focussed on solving the problems of global consumption.

According to the United Nations, if the world’s population continues growing at its current rate, by 2050 we would need almost three planets in order to support our consumption of natural resources. Addressing the issue of global consumption is the theme of this year’s summer school.

Applications are open until the 16 April. To apply, click here or visit the GESS website for more info. GESS Cape Town 2018 is endorsed by the Department of Higher Education and Training through the Entrepreneurship Development programme in Higher Education.
