Rice Krispies-lovers have long complained that the taste of this much-loved cereal has changed, but are now rejoicing after it was announced that the original recipe will be back on a shelf near you. Produced by Kelloggs, the company replaced the original recipe with Vanilla Rice Krispies that contained double the amount of sugar approximately two years ago.
Speaking to TimesLIVE, Head of External Relations for Kelloggs SA, Zandi Mposelwa, said they took note of their customers’ dissatisfaction with the Vanilla recipe and have been working hard behind the scenes to reintroduce the original recipe back to the market.
Getting a box of the original recipe Rice Krispies won’t come cheap, however – this variant is only produced in the United Kingdom, and needs to be imported to South Africa. This means locals will pay approximately R70 for the large 510g box.
Locals are happy to have them back. Here is what they have to say:
I’m currently eating the original rice krispies and I couldn’t be happier.
