A well-known Paarl winemaker allegedly shot and killed his wife before turning the gun on himself on Tuesday, August 19. The incident took place on the Paardeberg farm.
As reported by Netwerk24, Hein Hesebeck (61) and his wife Anneline (57) lived on the farm by themselves.
South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Captain Louise du Plessis said, police officials responded to the scene at approximately 7.50pm on Tuesday evening after a family member found the bodies. Annelie’s body was reportedly found in the living room, while Hein’s body was found in the couple’s bedroom.
According to du Plessis, neighbours heard gunshots ringing earlier that afternoon, but assumed it was from another farm.
No foul play is suspected. The couple are survived by their two children.
