A virtual meeting of the National Assembly’s programming committee held over Zoom was interrupted with pornographic images and voice recordings hurling racial slurs at National Assembly Speaker Thandi Modise, who chaired the meeting.
The meeting was scheduled to take place this morning [May 7] at 9am when the hacker took over.
The Members of Parliament (MPs) were further shocked when a male voice made sexually offensive remarks pertaining to Modise.
The Members expressed their disgust at the content of hacking and the meeting was terminated. MPs described the incident as “sick” and “disturbing” according to EWN.
Parliamentary spokesperson Moloto Mothapo said arrangements were being made to set up a new meeting.
It is unsure how the security breach occurred.
