As World Cucumber Day draws near (yes, it’s a real thing, celebrated on June 14), the team at Hendrick’s Gin have something truly exciting in store to offer thirsty gin-lovers throughout the city.
Just as the cucumber celebrates the amazing and unusual liquid that is Hendrick’s, you will be able to celebrate this unusual companionship by participating in the Hendrick’s Cucumber Exchange, turning cucumbers to currency.
Hendrick’s wishes to spread appreciation for cucumbers everywhere by once again transforming the humble green fruit into an exchangeable currency that allows you to retrieve a delectable Hendrick’s & Tonic at participating outlets across South Africa. Yes, you read right – bring a cucumber and receive a Hendrick’s and Tonic. Marvellous, isn’t it?
Hendrick’s Gin has always held the cucumber in the highest regard. Hendrick’s’ unusual distillation process includes an infusion of rose and cucumber, which yields an extraordinarily smooth gin that is a rare union of lightness and complexity. Not only that, but there is simply no better way to top off a Hendrick’s cocktail than with a slice of the little green garnish cut from the same fruit that gives Hendrick’s its refreshing flavour.
“Following the success we have experienced previously when it comes to converting cucumbers to currency, we once again invite those with curious minds and a predisposition for escaping the conventional to participate in this marvellous celebration of Hendrick’s Gin’s cucumbrous infusion. Unfortunately, counterfeit cucumbers will not be accepted,” says Shaun Stemmett, Brand Manager for Hendrick’s Gin in South Africa.
The Cucumber Exchange will run from 14 May till 14 June at select participating outlets.
