Customers of the popular retailer Pick n Pay have been crying foul at the supermarket’s scratch and win campaign. The ongoing campaign started at the beginning of August and aims to reward customers for their loyalty towards the supermarket during its 50 years of operation.

Shoppers receive a scratch card for every R200 they spend, but many have been left scratching their heads instead.

Pick n Pay’s Facebook page has been inundated with complaints from customers who have yet to receive a winning scratch card, but the company’s Marketing Director, John Bradshaw, claims that a total of 350 000 winners have already received winning cards.

“We have 12 million customers every week so that’s still plenty of people that are getting scratch cards and are not winning,” Bradshaw said during a CapeTalk interview. “I think it is about getting the balance right. This is a cherry on top of what we are doing.”

Pick n Pay has decided to up the ante – customers who spend over R200 between Tuesday and Friday will receive an R20 spending voucher that can be used on Saturday or Sunday. This is on top of the scratch card.
