Western Cape police launched a manhunt after five suspects shot and wounded four people, including an 11-year-old girl at Gugulethu Mall on Saturday, February 6.

The South African Police Service’s (SAPS) Colonel Andre Traut said the armed suspects robbed a retail shop at the mall and fled with cellphones, according to SABC News Western Cape.

“While fleeing the scene they randomly shot at shoppers, injuring a 51-year-old female and an 11-year-old girl,” said Traut.

“They then shot and wounded two security guards aged 38 and 48 before managing to get away. The injured victims were admitted to hospital.”
