A Kraaifontein policeman has been shot and wounded over the weekend. As reported by SABC, the officer and a colleague were pursuing suspects in Scottsville after gang activity flared up in the area. Police spokesperson Andrè Traut says that the officer was wounded in the leg and was admitted to the hospital where he is being treated. No arrests have been made as of yet.

Meanwhile, in another incident involving the men in blue, two officers from the Western Cape are expected to appear in court on Monday, May 24, after being arrested for separate incidents.
One officer is being charged with an attempted murder, while the other one faces charges of allegedly dealing drugs.

Provincial Police spokesperson, Novela Potelwa indicated that a 26-year-old constable based at Kleinvlei police station was arrested for allegedly shooting and wounding a woman in 2020 while driving a state vehicle without consent. A 31-year-old sergeant working at Elsies River was arrested at his home after he allegedly supplied drugs to prisoners in court and police cells.
