These are trying times indeed. Apart from health risks, the ripple effect of the coronavirus has meant that restaurants, among other businesses, have been closed for the past weeks.
Now, much-loved deli and patisserie smak will no longer be in business. The deli posted the devastating news on Instagram, and many customers responded with disappointment and wishes of good luck.
“The past few weeks have been tough for us all and it is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we announce the following: smak will be closing its doors permanently at 22 Bree Street,” smak captioned their post.
“We want to thank each and every one of you for your loyalty and support for over four years. It has been an incredible journey and we are sad to bid farewell but don’t think that this is the end for us!”
Smak was founded by chef Katia Scherf and was known for its delicious foods made-to-order and its trendy Capetonian atmosphere.
