Light snowfall may be on the cards for parts of the country, including the Western Cape, this weekend and into next week. The snow fall is expected to affect high-lying areas primarily.
In a weather forecast for today, Friday, May 22, the South African Weather Service warned of a cold front and snow for the up coming days.
“An intense cold front is expected to affect the Western and Northern Cape provinces from Sunday to Tuesday . The public and small stock farmers are advised that light snowfall over high-lying areas, gale force winds and very cold conditions are expected,” they said.
The warning and advisory map, which can be found on the SA Weather Service website shows that areas including Worcester, Ceres, Prince Albert, Laingsburg, and Oudtshoorn are expected to experience “Light disruptive snowfalls” on Monday and Tuesday (May 25 to May 26).
