The risk of road-related deaths among South African kids has been reduced through a ‘ground-breaking’ project.

The project entitled Safe to School teaches bus drivers the importance of road awareness and trains them to safely drive children to school.

Being the first of its kind, many initiatives have come on board including Discovery Insure, Child Safe SA, Cape Town School Bus Industry, and others.

Bus drivers involved in the project have their vehicles fitted with a Discovery DQ-track System which monitors the driver’s behaviour behind the wheel. Driving elements like harsh braking, speeding, driving at night and taking sharp corners are taken into account and improved upon.
