Pupils at Bongolethu Primary School in Browns Farms were reportedly left traumatised after the charred remains of a man, yet to be identified, were found in the school garden.
A report by IOL said that the school authorities were forced to release the learners early, following the incident that also left them in shock.
A case of murder had since been opened for investigation by Nyanga police.
“Police are following up on the leads in order to arrest the suspects responsible for the murder,” The South African quoted police as saying.
The school’s governing body member Linda Ntanga asked the Western Cape Education Department to put a fence around the school, which she said was plagued by crime.
