Finally, it happened. The perfect storm. Cape Town’s city bowl rumbled as thunder crashed overhead. Workers took shelter under awnings as the heavens opened. Roads very suddenly became waterlogged as lightning flashed above them. Even a palm tree was set alight. The city bowl fell dark for at least an hour.
The atmosphere was quite literally electric as Capetonians quietly rejoiced the arrival of this thunderstorm. It’s unlikely that the rainfall will make a difference to our dam levels but at this point every drop counts.
