President Cyril Ramaphosa had a real South African experience on his visit to the Port of Cape Town on Tuesday, June 22. Ramaphosa was summoned to the Port following severe congestion issues as a result of ageing infrastructure and equipment, staffing shortages and weather disruptions.

The Port of Cape Town is an important channel for exports and imports, and a major economic gateway for Cape Town, the Western Cape and South Africa.

After his visit to the Port, the President then took the podium during a media briefing claiming somebody dispossessed him of his iPad.

“So they stole it, I had my iPad, this is the problem of always handing your gadgets out to other people,” Ramaphosa said.

However, the President’s iPad was then later retrieved. Ramaphosa was joined by Western Cape Premier Alan Winde, Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan, Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula, Transport MEC Daylin Mitchell and Transnet Executives.

Meanwhile, some social media users expressed their views following Ramaphosa’s claims.
